Contract Cancellation
All single students under 21 years of age who have earned fewer than 27 hours of transferable credit after high school graduation are required to live in university housing.
After contracts begin and/or you have moved in, Contract Cancellation is NOT an option. Students should contact the Housing Office to inquire about Contract Breakage (a separate process).
This form is used for students wishing to cancel their contract prior to:
• August move-in for Academic Year contracts
• January move-in for Spring Only contracts
• May for Summer contracts
Please be advised that if you are required to live on campus, your Student Housing Contract will not be cancelled with this form.
All students required to live on campus, including those students who live with a parent, grandparent or legal guardian at that person's full time permanent address within 45 miles of campus, must submit an appropriate
Request for Exception to the University Housing Policy and be granted an exception before contract cancellation will be considered.
For returning residence hall students: If cancellation is submitted and accepted by the Department of Residence Life, Housing and Dining Services by 11:59 p.m., April 1 for fall, no fees will be assessed. From April 2 to the day before the residence halls open for the fall semester, the $100 security deposit will be forfeited. Once the halls open, contracts cannot be canceled through this process. For new residence hall students: If cancellation is submitted and accepted by the Department of Residence Life, Housing and Dining Services by 11:59 p.m. May 1 for fall or December 1 for Spring-only contracts, no fees will be assessed. From May 2 to the day before the residence halls open for the fall semester (December 2 to the day before the residence halls open for the spring semester), the $100 security deposit will be forfeited. Once the halls open, contracts cannot be canceled through this process. Contact the Department of Residence Life, Housing and Dining Services.
Summer Housing Contracts: If cancellation is submitted and accepted by the Department of Residence Life, Housing and Dining Services by 11:59 p.m. May 1, no fees will be assessed. From May 2, and throughout the summer session, a One-Hundred Dollar ($100.00) fee will be assessed. Once the halls open, contracts cannot be canceled through this process.
