Extreme Financial Need Required Information
You may wish to contact the Office of Financial Aid at 417-836-5262 to ensure you have exhausted all scholarship, grant, and loan opportunities.
Evaluation for extreme financial need is a multiple hurdle process.
Step One:
Residence Life will work with The Office of Financial Aid to obtain a picture of your unique financial profile to determine if you are in Extreme Financial Need; meaning you might not be able to attend Missouri State if required to live on campus. You must be shown to have extreme need in order to move forward in the process to step two.
Step Two:
If you have extreme need, as defined by Financial Aid, your access to aid will be evaluated. Your access to aid must be shown to be insufficient to meet your need in order to move forward in the process to step three.
Step Three:
If you have extreme need not met by your aid, your proposed alternative will be evaluated. Your proposed alternative must be more affordable than what could be provided to you on campus for you to move forward in the evaluation process. A more affordable alternative does not guarantee an exception will be granted.
-
FAFSA must be filed with Office of Financial Aid before a request can be considered.
Financial requests for Fall will begin to be considered in early June.
Financial requests for Spring will begin to be considered in mid-October.
In your supporting letter, include a budget to address off campus costs including:
• Monthly rent – verified by a potential, UNSIGNED lease/rental agreement

• Deposits
• Administrative fees
